SPIFF

Earlier SPIFF development interface showing scene controls, seven effect cards and a drawn modulation curve
Earlier development interface. The current prototype replaces scenes with eleven independent effect modules.
CREATIVE MULTI-EFFECT / NATIVE PROTOTYPE

Give a recording another direction.

A preset-led effect for recorded material. The current prototype combines eleven processors with individual curves, local blends and one Global Mix.

A CLOSER LOOK
01

Eleven ways into the sound.

The current chain runs through Pitch, Formant, Chop, Reverse, Granular, Filter, Texture, Motion, Delay, Space and Repeat. Each module has its own controls and local Mix, so an individual effect can be blended before the global balance.

02

Pitch, formants and slices.

Pitch transposes in semitones without changing the clip's duration. Formant shifts the spectral envelope independently of pitch. Chop uses rhythmic and melodic slice patterns, while Reverse captures tempo-synced windows and plays them backward.

03

Draw the movement.

Every module has a curve editor with an adjustable cycle and interpolation. The curve's destination is named in the editor: for example, Chop shapes slice level and Reverse shapes the reversed contribution. The colored graphics illustrate control and timing, rather than measuring a waveform or spectrum.

04

Presets are starting points.

The current factory bank contains 21 audition candidates, organized by sonic result with instrument filters. Selecting a preset sets Global Mix to 100% so its full recipe can be heard. Reduce Mix to blend it with the original, and use Save As to keep a separate personal preset.

05

Made for recorded material.

Pitch and formant processing introduce latency; the current engine reports 240 ms at 48 kHz. It is intended for production on recorded audio. Host compensation, short loops and preset changes still require listening checks in real sessions.

THE WORKFLOW

Start with a phrase. Follow the change.

  1. Play a recorded phrase and choose a preset as a starting point.
  2. Open a module and adjust its two main parameters and local Mix.
  3. Shape its curve and cycle, then set Global Mix for the complete result.
  4. Save a personal version with Save As and compare it in the arrangement.
IN DEVELOPMENT

Where it stands.

The current native prototype is revision 0.3.0. Presets and processing have technical test evidence; musical acceptance, full DAW listening checks and commercial release remain pending. No public installer is available here.
